چکیده

The excitation function of the Zn(p, 2p)Cu reaction was measured radiochemically up to a proton energy of 71 MeV to obtain accurate data for production of the therapy related β−-emitting radioisotope Cu (T1/2 = 61.9 h). Investigations were also made on the (p, 2n) and (p, 3n) reactions on Zn. The experimental cross sections of the Zn(p, 2p)Cu, Zn(p, 2n)Ga and Zn(p, 3n)Ga reactions were compared with published data and with theoretical predictions based on the hybrid-precompound model ALICEIPPE. Thick target yields of Cu, Ga (T1/2 = 78.3 h) and Ga (T1/2 = 9.4 h) were calculated. Production of Cu is feasible only at proton energies above 50 MeV. For the target thickness Ep = 70 → 50 MeV, the yield of Cu amounts to 16.9 MBq/μA·h.

Excitation functions of (nat)Zn(p,x) nuclear reactions with proton beam energy below 18 MeV.

We measured the excitation functions of (nat)Zn (p,x) reactions up to 17.6MeV, using the stacked-foils activation technique. High-purity natural zinc (and copper) foils were irradiated with proton beams generated by an 18MeV isochronous cyclotron. Activated foils were measured using high-purity Ge gamma spectroscopy to quantify the radionuclides (61)Cu, (66)Ga, (67)Ga, and (65)Zn produced from ...

Targetry for cyclotron production of no-carrier-added cadmium-109 from natAg(p,n)109Cd reaction

Background: Solid targets that consist of powder and electrodeposited targets are used commonly to produce radionuclides by accelerators. Since silver is easily electrodeposited in cyanide baths and has a very excellent thermal conductivity, the electrodeposited target is preferable to produce 109Cd. To avoid cracking or peeling of the target during bombardment, it should have a level surface a...

Computer simulation techniques to design Xenon-124 solid target for iodine-123 production

Background: Iodine-123 (123I) is regarded as one of the best radionuclides for in vivo medical studies using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) due to its suitable physical property. Materials and Methods: To design a new system in order to replace cryogenically solidified xenon target by the gas one, some necessary calculations are needed to be done such as finding the excitati...

Comparison of Copper-61 Radioisotop Production Yield via Reactions of 64Zn(p,α)61Cu, natZn(p,x)61Cu, 61Ni(p,n)61Cu, and natNi(p,x)61Cu in Hospital Cyclotron using TALYS, EMPIRE, and MCNPX Nuclear Codes

Background & Aims: Copper-61 (61Cu) is a radioisotope with a half-life of 3.33 hours which decays to nickel-61 isotope byβ+  emission (61%) or electron capture (39%). This radioisotope can be used in the evaluation of the blood supply of the heart and low-oxygen cancer tissues imaging with PET. 61Cu is mainly produced by bombarding zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) targets in medium cyclot...

Up-regulation of plasma membrane H+-ATPase under salt stress may enable Aeluropus littoralis to cope with stress

Plasma membrane H+-ATPase is a major integral membrane protein with a role in various physiological processes including abiotic stress response. To study the effect of NaCl on the expression pattern of a gene encoding the plasma membrane H+-ATPase, an experiment was carried out in a completely random design with three replications. A pair of specific primers was designed based on the sequence o...
